MAGGI'S TEACHING IN A NUTSHELL:
Maggi has taught voice for over 30 years.
Her teaching style is direct, exacting, honest, informal, patient, inspiring and supportive. She has a keen and intuitive understanding of how to work with each individual. She incorporates body awareness approaches, most particularly the principals of The Alexander Technique and Yoga, along with a solid understanding of how the voice works. She uses analogies and finely tuned language and exercises to help her student’s progress. Her extensive background in different musical styles give her ability to instruct students in acting, movement, foreign languages, repertoire ideas and performance skills.
Maggi believes it is crucial for anyone in any field to continue learning. Along with regular reading of articles and books on singing, she participates in workshops relevant to her teaching, performing and personal growth. These valuable experiences have included week long courses at Eastman School of Music, Indiana University and Westminster Choir College, Courses at Landmark Education and workshops at Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health.
Next summer she will be going to sweet Briar College for a week long course in Alexander Technique.
She is a long standing member of NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing) and abides by their code of ethics. www.nats.org
